This is a program designed to highlight and showcase the unique contributions of Nigerian Professionals and Businessmen worldwide to the socio-economic segments in nations where Nigerians are involved in supporting the growth and development of nations and especially African Nations in the spirit of brotherly cooperation and African integration for the rapid emancipation of our people to take a giant lip into the future and lift Africa out of poverty and negative stereotypes which does not depict the values of our forefathers. Africa is no exception in this hence the Nigeria Diaspora Award, showcase the spirit of cooperation and brotherly love between the African countries and beyond.

 

Ever before the Federal Government of Nigeria decided to establish and promote the Technical Aid Core program, Nigerians on their own have been trouping into nations to provide much needed technical assistance. In The Gambia, education had been a core area and subsequently, Nigerian government decided to lend a helping hand by sending Nigerian experts especially in education and other technical areas at the Nigerian government expense to help build capacity in The Gambia. This expertise was not only limited to teachers but also in the legal and other areas including medicine. One may recall a time there was when we had Nigerian Justices serving in the Supreme Court, Appeal Court and other courts. Nigerian experts are involved in various segment of the society. 

 

Nigeria still sends experts to some African Countries and beyond.

 

Both government, private institutions and individuals have promoted the image of Nigeria, 

 

It is for this purpose that we have decided to honour men and women that have made this laudable contributions so as to encourage others in the future to take on the mantle.
